Because I know how much you all love to videotape officers.

Anyway, I thought this was news worthy. Front Page news worthy.

Apparently an officer in PA took away the video camera of an 18 year old passenger in the car the officer had pulled over for speeding. The young man had been compliant and handed over the camera with no complaints after the officer had cursed at him and yelled for the boy to hand over the "concealed" camera. He's being charged with "wiretapping," and could face up to seven years in prison.

Anyway, you can read more here, it's an interesting article, and I got tired of summarizing it. I suck at that anyway:

(sorry, you guys are just going to have to copy & paste)

I wonder what they'll think of my webcam on my neighbors....

I know. It's bullshit. PA is apparently pretty strict about wiretapping.
I remember when I was a kid, my family went on a road trip to Las Vegas. My father was speeding and got pulled over. My sister and I were in the back seat with a video camera, taping the incident out the back window.

..

We didn't get arrested for wiretapping.

You should have. >:(

It pisses me off. Not that you didn't get arrested, but that could be construed as wiretapping. Effing hell man.

Isn't wiretapping supose to be a secritive thing? lol, don't you love dumb laws?

Easpecially considering the fact that the police record all traffic stops with their dash cams. Just what did the officer say/do that he thought he should confiscate the boy's camera 20 mintues after seeing it? Obviously he slipped up at some point. I mean, a stop for that kind of thing shouldn't take 20 minutes! He was probably being too crude and brusque for such a minor thing and then decided if such footage got out he could get in trouble.
